Who the guides are for

People who walk dogs and sit pets for a living, or are about to. Not pet owners. Every guide is about running the business, and it answers its question in the first paragraph.

Where the numbers come from

  • A figure that can go stale, such as a market rate or an insurance price, names its source and the month it was checked, in the sentence and again in a Sources list at the end of the guide.
  • We prefer primary sources: the company that published the price, the government agency that wrote the rule, the veterinary body that set the guidance. We do not cite content farms.
  • We do not restate a marketplace average as what a professional should charge. It is a reference point, and the guide says so.
  • Where no reliable number exists, the guide says that rather than inventing one.

How the calculators work

The pricing calculator and the route profit calculator are arithmetic, not estimates: they add up the costs and time you enter and divide. The formulas are ordinary code in the site with automated tests that check them against worked examples. Nothing you type into a calculator is sent anywhere.

How gear is chosen

  • Each item has to solve a real problem on a working route, and the guide says which.
  • Every recommendation carries four required parts: why a professional needs it, what separates a good one, the downside, and who should skip it. An item without an honest downside does not get published.
  • Links to Amazon earn Anvil Road LLC a commission. Commission rate plays no part in which item is chosen; usefulness on the route does. The disclosure sits above the first link on any page that has one.
  • Links are checked periodically and removed when a product is discontinued.

Software comparisons

PackRounds sells software. Any page that names another product says so at the top, quotes the other product's own published prices and features with the date they were read, and states plainly what PackRounds does not do. We do not run down competitors.

What we will not claim

  • Reviews, ratings, awards or customer counts we have not earned.
  • Features the product does not ship. The feature list on the homepage matches the software.
  • Legal, tax, veterinary or insurance advice. Guides on those topics are educational and tell you who to ask.
  • Credentials for people who do not hold them. We do not publish bylines.

Structured data

A page tells search engines only what it shows a reader: an article is marked as an article, a question-and-answer section as questions and answers, and nothing else.
